Welcome to Wellworthy Sea Angling Club's official web site. The club was rekindled in 1987 and at present has 25 members. The club is also affiliated to the South West Federation of Sea Anglers. The club holds monthly competitions to win a variety of cups and trophies. They also hold an annual speciest hunt, bass month and conger month competitions.
Over the past 4 years the club has held the Moggy Moore Memorial Competition & Raffle. Moggy was one of the many who helped rekindle the club and sadly passed away in 2004.
On the day we had 20 adults and 3 juniors from 3 clubs fishing the competition. Unfortunately the weather played its part in the low turn out. However to shame those who did not show up, the Kingsbridge club showed up with 4 adults and 2 juniors having travelled from about 100 miles away! Congratulations go to Weymouth this year who won with a total of 57.15 lbs. First prize went to Ben Stockley who weighed in with 24.95 pounds. Heaviest fish and best specimen went to Pete Hegg with a starry smooth hound of 7.5 lbs. The junior prize went to Catherine Buik with a Lesser Spotted Dogfish of 1.55 lbs. Including the raffle we have managed to raise £1501.32. I would like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to those that helped, to many to name, by donating car boot stuff, selling raffle tickets and helping on the day. I will be starting the car boots again next month so if you have anything you want to get rid of please let me know.
